Membership

Browsing listings is free for everyone — no account needed to look around. To message sellers, buy items, or post your own listings, choose a membership and unlock the full platform. Pick Individual or Commercial, then pay every 3 months, 6 months, or annually — same total cost, whatever fits your budget. Your first 6 months are free, so you can try Fresh Trade with nothing to lose.

We created Fresh Trade for 4 reasons: to make local produce affordable to everyone in NZ, localise & support growers in your region giving back to your community and giving opportunity to New Zealanders, we believe everyone in NZ should be able to buy fresh, traceable produce grown near you, and lastly, allowing individuals & local businesses the opportunity to lower their food waste — offering second grade or surplus produce to locals or as animal food before throwing it away.

Our story

Fresh Trade was invented after a lifetime in food and gardening. I've spent my early years running kitchens as a head chef, and having a passion for all things food & health has stayed with me through every chapter of the last 25 years. Today, my husband and I are married with four children, spending most of our days working on the property we recently bought in the sunny Tasman Bay region of New Zealand. We'd always dreamt of living on a beautiful property with an abundance of vegetables and fruit for our kids to enjoy — and it was here, running an egg stall and watching our kids sell fresh flowers from the gate, that we started trading with neighbours and local food stalls around our village — and that's where the idea for Fresh Trade began.

We thought, what a wonderful way for every person in New Zealand to reconnect with fresh, local ingredients, lower their food costs, and support the neighbourhoods and businesses around them. That's exactly what Fresh Trade has become — a local and regional marketplace where Kiwis can buy, sell, and trade fresh produce, plants, and homemade goods within their community. It's designed to connect growers, bakers, and makers with their neighbours, reducing food waste, lowering costs, and supporting sustainable living in your region.

We're community driven, and we offer a level playing field for businesses and small back-yard veg growers alike. If you're a back yard veg grower, a road side stall or a community based business and want to buy, sell or trade your products within your community then Fresh Trade is for you. Fresh Trade is open to individual and commercial growers/retailers. The time is now to support your locals, sell your surplus, and trade with each other.

We designed this website to help others and fulfill our passion for clean, fresh ingredients and earthy handcrafted products. We are lucky to live in a country with so many creative clever people growing and supplying our locals with everything from food products to soaps, gardening equipment, organic animal feed to natural skincare and body products. As a chef and local to the area, I can vouch for so many suppliers and products grown right here. Now we can all participate in our future & wellbeing — teach our children and better our health knowing exactly where your produce has come from.
